The Desire Mid is built on a base that's very similar to that of the AND 1 KG Mid. Like that shoe, the Desire Mid employs a dual-density CMEVA midsole with the combo of visible Harmonix/Springz Geometry/Duraspring II at the heel. This is further augmented with poron inserts glued to the underside of the shoe's sockliner at both the forefoot and heel. The net result of all of this is excellent impact protection with very good cushioning feel. Through the course of my testing the Desire Mid's cushioning setup provided just the right mix of cush and responsiveness without ever feeling mushy.
